REACH-CLP Institutional support to the management and control of chemicals
IOWater participated with the Austrian Environment Agency (UBA), the National Institute for Industrial Environment and Risks (INERIS) and the Swedish Chemicals Agency (KEMI) in the implementation of the european twinning agreement “Institutional Support to the management and control of chemicals in Tunisia”
This project aimed at promoting an industry more respectful of health and the environment while increasing its competitiveness and preparing the Tunisian industrial sector to managerial, organizational and technological changes related to the implementation of the European REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals) and CLP regulations (Classification, Labeling and Packaging of dangerous chemicals).
IOWater contributed to the strengthening of the legal basis, the establishment of an institutional organization and to the capacity building of the Tunisian Technical Chemical Center, providing relevant expertise on :
- Preparation of legislative and regulatory work,
- Organizational diagnosis of concerned Tunisian institutions,
- Professional training of the staff of the chemical analysis laboratory
