January news on aquatic biodiversity: fish populations, nature-based solutions, wetlands...

01/02/2019

As every month, the International Office for Water keeps an informational watch on aquatic biodiversity. The latest edition of this letter has just been published. Among the subjects detected in January:

  • monitoring of fish populations, with observatories and specific programmes (e. g. whitefish, apron),
  • the concept of "nature-based solutions" with a ground example in the area of the ponds and marshes of the former Camargue salt marshes,
  • the draft law creating the French Biodiversity Office,
  • the World Wetlands Day,
  • and an ever-increasing concern about invasive alien species.

The result of this monitoring is published in a monthly letter accessible free of charge on the site and by e-mail subscription.
