The Pilot Centre for Vocational Training (CPFP) of Haiti is being formed in Limoges

01/07/2019

The project of the National Institute of Vocational Training (INFP) of Haiti "Competence for Youth Employment", in which the International Office for Water has been working with CRESFED since 2017, has successfully taken a decisive step: the trainers of the Pilot Centre for Vocational Training of Port au Prince (CPFP) have received for 3 weeks an applied vocational training on water and sanitation.

Hydraulics applied to drinking water networks, connection to HDPE pipes, drilling of cast iron pipes, installation of support collars on PVC networks, fire hydrants, or monitoring of water treatment plants were part of the training programme carried out on IOWater's educational platforms in Limoges and La Souterraine.

It should be recalled that this INFP project, in partnership with the Centre Pilote de la Formation Professionnelle de Port au Prince and the Direction Nationale de l'Eau Potable et de l'Assainissement, and supported by the Agence Française de Développement, has already produced 11 continuous training modules, ranging from the discovery of sanitation professions, to the reading and installation of water meters, or the application of national water regulations. IOWater also participated in the realization of 4 initial training courses, for diplomas from BAP to Technician on drinking water services.

IOWater also carried out the preliminary drafts of 5 educational platforms and participated in the identification of training partners in Haiti. A training workshop was held to develop the financing and scale-up plan for the water training sector. The objective is to implement the first training courses next autumn.

This project is in line with the projects carried out by IOWater in Haiti since 2007, such as the feasibility study for a School of Water Professions or the National Technical Reference Framework for Drinking Water and Sanitation.
